Dangerously Close to Madness

Back in the day, I had a vintage, 2005, Artic Cat 650 turbo snowmobile with red and white stripes and the shiniest chrome that would sparkle like a diamond in the sun. It may have only weighed about 670 pounds but driving...

One Dead Body

“Who knew? Who would have guessed?” I was surprised by the tales my aging mother had to tell. As she was recovering from a lingering illness, I spent an extended stay with her to help her pass the time. Anticipated boredom blossomed surprisingly into engaging hours. For a short time we weren’t mother and daughter, but had become best friends telling...

A Women Who Loved Well

“Well, here I am…how is everyone? Sure is cold out there tonight. Brrr…..we ain’t never had nights like this when I was growing up in Georgia. Why’s it got to be so cold up here in the north? I ain’t complainin’ though. I got my sons, my grandkids and all of you. It is so good to see you. How can I help? What’ll we do? Draw? Make holiday decorations? Oh now, come on...

Break of Day

Break of day, It’s just like Spring

We look to Heaven, And our heart sings.

All God’s beauty, the sky so bright

We marvel at this wonderous sight.

In rolling waves and sandy dunes

The angels sing their blessed tunes.

Breezy kisses on our cheek

Oh loving God, it’s you we seek.

Our hearts are open, alive with light.

Our spirit dances with delight.

We meditate your Holy Word

With your love, our soul be cured.

Oh, joyous day that lies ahead

Giving thanks, our daily bread.

A Prayer Before God

I sit before you weak and small.

You raise me up, but then I fall.

I want to love you and be true.

But my sinful ways dishonor you.

Each day I come in front of thee

I beg forgiveness on bended knee.

I long for you to make me whole.

Then you reach down, and cleanse my soul.

I need your help to make things right.

You give me life, you are my light.

Drawing close to you, I longingly pray

Strengthen me throughout the day.

I persevere, for you, I long.

Watch over me and make me strong.

Oh loving Father, and my friend

Thank you for love, that’s without end.

He Spoke to Me

He spoke to me, in private prayer.

His breath, a balmy breeze in air

Here He was, in nature’s wood

His patient presence, I understood.

Luminous light through shadowy skies

Deer and bear on guard nearby

Clouds, fast forming, overhead

By peaceful path, I’d been lovingly led.

“Lift up your heart,” He called to me.

“Let your soul shine, for all to see.

Life here is short, yet lingers long.

Love One Another, be your daily song.”

And then skies cleared, clouds broke away.

My heart like the sun, burst open that day.

My mornings now, I continue to pray

That all the world would know His way.
